Corian® Solid Surface
Featuring 11 unique gallery and exhibit spaces, the 49ers Museum presented by Sony is a 20,000 sq. ft. facility dedicated to the 49ers past, present and future.

The curved, seamless walls of the new Levi’s® Stadium Museum in Santa Clara, CA, create a clean, uniform look that highlights why DuPont™ Corian® is the obvious choice for designers who want to make a bold statement with a durable solid surface.

The museum’s tall, translucent Corian® panels help capture the feeling and energy of the 49ers’ images projected on them. But they also are durable, which is necessary for an area with high volumes of visitor traffic.

“It is not surprising that Corian® would be featured so prominently in the Levi’s® Stadium Museum,” said John Richard, Global Business Director for DuPont Surfaces. “This type of impressive, large-scale design lends itself to Corian® both because of the surface’s aesthetic beauty and the ability to form it into virtually any shape or design.”

The curved walls and unique display stands of thermoformed Corian® also provide the uniform, seamless look needed on which to project the 49ers images in the many film and interactive exhibit spaces throughout the Museum.

Cambridge Seven Associates was the firm selected to design the interior architecture of the 20,000-square-foot museum. Its designers drew inspiration from the winning touchdown reception called “The Catch,” which resulted from former 49ers’ quarterback Joe Montana’s famous pass in the 1982 NFC Championship game against the Dallas Cowboys. Using the versatility of Corian®, designers at The Taylor Group and fabricators at Ontario Construction Industries were able to create flowing, virtually seamless walls with organic shapes and bold effects of color and translucency.

More than 250 sheets of Corian® Glacier White were used in the museum and education center to create walls, desks, displays, and reader rails that help museum visitors become immersed in the excitement of NFL history.
