With the demand for solid surface expanding within the United States, Canada and South America, the joint venture between Hyundai L&C USA and Wilsonart Engineered Surfaces, entered into back in 2017, made sense. Each of them is now able to expand production lines, launch new products and expand distribution of solid surface at a lower cost, enhancing customer accessibility. Constructing the facility in the central location of Temple, Texas, also made sense.  It allowed for both manufacturers to concentrate on convenience and servicing consumers with a geographical advantage.

The ASM Facility

The 135,000 square foot facility is state-of-the-art. It provides Wilsonart and Hyundai L&C added capacity to produce solid surface on a larger and more cost-effective scale. The new equipment has the capacity to produce up to 300,000 sheets of solid surface material annually. It will also produce sheets 60” wide, permitting a much higher degree of flexibility and efficiency. This, in turn, saves time and money for fabricators and their customers.

Solid Surface Brands

Wilsonart® Solid Surface was first introduced in 1990 by Wilsonart Engineered Surfaces.  It has become a prominent player in the surfacing industry by continuously redefining decorative surfaces through improved performance and visual appeal. Hyundai L&C USA manufactures solid surface under the Hanex® Solid Surfaces brand name, as well as offering HanStone Quartz. Hanex® Solid Surfaces’ next-generation products are not only stylish, but versatile (thermoformable) and durable. Wilsonart® and Hanex® are used in both residential and commercial applications.

“As you know, solid surfacing does not stand alone by itself as an end product. It is part of something bigger and is capable of many remarkable things,” said Jung Seok Yoo, Chief Executive Officer of Hyundai L&C USA. “In some ways our products are just one small part of an entire building or interior space but we take very seriously the impact that can have on those people that inhabit those buildings or spaces.”

The new facility allows both companies to better serve their customers with a U.S. supply of solid surface. The new facility will also create more than 50 new jobs in the local area.
